TOURNAMENT TEAMS

Summer Tournament baseball is an exciting and rewarding experience that provides an opportunity to continue skill development in a fun and competitive environment.  Teams will participate in various exhibition games and tournaments against other little league associations.  To be eligible to play on All-Star and Selects teams, players must meet age requirements and either reside or attend school within the Jericho boundaries.  Proof of residency is required.

Any questions please contact our administrator admin@jerichobaseball.com and our Tournament Coordinator will respond.

Player Selection

The summer tournament teams selection process will consider: results from both the pre-season and in-season assessments (both handled by a 3rd party assessor), in addition to the input of Jericho in-season coaches, tournament team coaches and the Tournament Coordinator. The selection criteria will consider talent and player availability, together with having a positive attitude and demonstrating Jericho Baseball’s values.

On the basis of the above criteria, the All-Star/Selects Manager will have input in selections taking into account specific positional requirements for the respective team.  More details about the full player selection process will be communicated during the season.

Coach Selection

Coaches interested in head/assistant coaching one of the Jericho tournament teams can submit an expression of interest to admin@jerichobaseball.com.  Once all applications are received, the Jericho Board and Tournament Coordinator will meet to choose the coaching teams. Any disputes or appeals will be brought forward to the Jericho Board of Directors.  The Tournament Coordinator will provide each coach a list of available summer tournaments and contacts for Exhibition Games.

All-Star and Selects Team Information

Practices, exhibition games and tournaments will begin shortly after the regular season concludes.  Commitment is about 3 - 5 days per week.  Tournaments for these teams tend to run through July and possibly into early August. While the availability of players will be a contributing factor for team selection, there is more flexibility to substitute players between tournaments that is not available under the rules for All-Star teams so if you are unable to commit for the full period accommodations may be considered.

9 SELECTS

Players must be baseball age 9, but strong Baseball 8-year old players may be considered.  Roster size will vary (11 – 14 players).

May Long Weekend Jericho 9 Selects Tournament

In addition to the Summer Tournament season, Jericho will host a 9 Selects Tournament on the May Long Weekend.  This team will be selected on basis of the Majors assessment done prior to the Season for those interested.  This May team is NOT the 9 summer selects team and participation is not a requirement for selection to the 9 Selects, nor is participation in the May Tournament a guarantee for selection for the Summer Selects.

8 SELECTS

Players must be baseball age 8, but strong baseball 7-year old players may be considered.  Roster size will vary (11 – 14 players).

Format of play for this level is pitching machine.  Practices, exhibition games and tournaments will begin shortly after the regular season concludes.  Commitment is about 3 - 5 days per week.  Tournaments for these teams tend to run through July and possibly into August. May Long Weekend Dunbar Dairy Queen 8 Selects Tournament

7 SELECTS

Players must be baseball age 7.

This age group is more focused on training and fun, as opposed to competitive tournaments.  A larger roster will be utilized for all interested players, as opposed to a selection based on an assessment.  Commitment is about 1-2 days per week through until end of July with accommodations for any travel plans or conflicts.

MAJORS SUNDAY IN-SEASON TRAVEL TEAM

The Majors In-Season Development Groups are designed to provide extra training and competition for kids who are keen on baseball and to help prepare them for tournament team play by participating in a weekly game versus other Little League organizations throughout the Lower Mainland.  Based on the pre-season assessment, 18 to 20 players for each age group will receive an “invitation”. This will ensure players of similar skills level are playing with and against each other.

Three groups will be formed (i) a 11 / 12 age group; (ii) 10 age group and (iii) 9 age group . The program will run from April 12 to June 2.  All practices will be at Carnarvon Park at the following times:

9 age group = Sunday 11:30am – 2pm

10 age group = Friday 4pm – 6:15pm

11 / 12 age group = Sunday 9am – 12pm

Games will be scheduled for Sunday evening and 11 person rosters will picked for each game based on availability and ensuring equal game opportunity for each player.  Given the larger roster size 100% commitment is not required.   Participation is not a requirement for selection to the summer All-Star teams, nor is participation a guarantee for selection for the Summer All-Star teams.

All-Star and Select Team Fees

Players that are placed on a team will be required to pay an additional fee.  These fees will be based on any additional costs for the team such as customized caps, jerseys, merchandise, umpires, etc.  The range for these fees will likely be between $250-$400 depending on the specific team.  No player will be denied the opportunity to play on any of these teams if the fee might prevent them from doing so - please be in touch with the League Administrator.
