About this division

TBall is for kids who are baseball age 5-6 who were born between September 1, 2017 – August 31, 2019.

Children learn the fundamentals of hitting off a tee, throwing, fielding and running. The primary focus is on fun, being part of a team, physical activity, and building confidence.

There are 7-10 players per team. Players are permitted to request one to three friends.  The Division Coordinator will do their best to accommodate the request but are not guaranteed.  Friend requests are made at the time of registration.

Player Commitment

1 practice (1 hour) and 1 game (1 hour) per week.  Practice days/times are set by team coaches and division co-ordinators during the week. Games will be on Saturday mornings and can be scheduled anytime between 9am and 1pm.

Parent Commitment

Each team relies on parent volunteer coaches and team managers.  TBall is NOT a drop-off activity. Subject to COVID-19 requirements, an adult must stay at the park for the duration of each session.  Snack and bench duties will be assigned per game.

Practice / Game Structure

Practice plans focused on fun, physical movement, and basic skill development.  After the warm-up, recommend dividing the team into small groups and rotating through 2 – 3 stations in order to ensure each child is active and being exposed to different skills.

The ball is placed on a tee and each player gets an opportunity to hit the ball each inning and run to the base.  One base maximum each hit, other than the final batter that can “clear the bases”. For fielding, the team is divided into 2 groups that rotate infield and outfield.  Infielders will watch the ball being hit and are encouraged to retrieve and throw ball to first base.

The remaining kids are with a coach in the outfield safely away from batters where the coach will run basic fielding/throwing activities with them in order to keep active.

At end of the game, a running relay competition is encouraged with one team starting at 2nd Base and the other at home plate.

No score or standings are kept. Regular bats are used and bat safety is paramount.

Required Equipment

Players are required to bring their own glove and helmets.  Players are encouraged to bring their own bat, but the league will have some available to use if needed. Players will be given hats and a team shirt to keep.
