Majors Assessments
Player assessments for all Majors division players
(baseball age 9 - 12) were conducted at the end of the 2011 season.
We also collected player assessment information from each Minors A
and Majors coach. This information will be used to draft players
onto teams for the 2012 Majors divisions.
Any players wishing to play in the Majors divisions
who are completely new to Jericho Little League will need to be
assessed. We will hold the new player assessments at 3:15 pm on
February 19, 2012 in the gymnasium at the West Point Grey Community
Centre (4397 W. 2nd Ave). Players should bring their
baseball gloves and wear shoes appropriate for the gym (no
cleats).
Pre-season Hitting Clinics
We are now offering a short series of optional,
pre-season, hitting clinics for all players age 7 - 12 registered
for the 2012 season. These sessions will be run by a professional
coach, Dan "Kasper" Kasperski. Clinics will be held at Carnarvon
Park in our Batting Cage (NE diamond) on Sunday mornings, Feb. 12,
19, and 26. Players aged seven to nine should attend from 9:30 -
10:30 am. Players aged ten to twelve should attend from 10:30 -
11:30 am.
Clinics will be held rain or shine - our batting
cage is covered.
Cost is $40 for all three sessions or $15 drop-in
per session. For more information, contact our Player Agent
Tomalene at pa@jerichobaseball.com.
Jericho Coaching Clinics
Jericho would like to thank all those parents that
volunteer as coaches for our kids. Several coaches have asked for
some help with training for how to teach specific aspects of
pitching and hitting, as well as how to run a standard practice. We
have hired a professional coach, Dan "Kasper" Kasperski, to run
some some coaching clinics for you. All parents interested in
coaching are welcome to attend these clinics.
Coaching clinics will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21
and Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the West Point Grey Community Center Gym
(4397 W. 2nd Ave.). From 5:15 - 6:15
pm, the clinics will focus on coaching players age 6 - 9 (T-Ball
and Minors divisions). From 6:15 - 7:15 pm, the clinics will focus
on coaching players age 10 - 12 (Majors divisions). Bring your
baseball gloves.
Each date will cover different material. Please
plan on attending both dates of the clinic. For more information,
contact our Player Agent Tomalene at pa@jerichobaseball.com. Bring
your baseball gloves and be ready to take part in a practice.
Little League Canada Coaching Clinics
Little League Canada will also offer some very good coaching
clinics on April 3 & 4, 2012 at Vancouver College (5400
Cartier Street). Park in the school parking lot between 39th
and 41st off Hudson – 2 blocks east of Granville St.

Information Regarding Concussions
Little League Baseball has always been at the
forefront regarding the safety and well-being of children. In
keeping with its focus on protecting the health, safety and welfare
of children, Jericho Little League strongly encourages all coaches
to review the information and training materials on concussions
which is available (free of charge) on the Centers
For Disease Control website.
Heads
Up: Concussion in Youth Sports is a free, online, 30 minute
course available to coaches, parents, and others helping to keep
athletes safe from concussion. It features interviews with leading
experts, dynamic graphics and interactive exercises, and compelling
storytelling to help you recognize a concussion and know how to
respond if you think that your athlete might have a concussion.
Additionally, all parents and athletes should
review the two page concussion information sheet available here.
Thank you for your time and dedication towards
keeping our young athletes safe and healthy.
